Job Summary
The School of Arts & Sciences seeks dynamic applicants for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Data Science position. This is an academic year (10-month) appointment beginning on August 1, 2025.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities -
-Develop and implement both introductory and advanced courses in mathematics and data science, including learning support mathematics.
-Teach a full load of courses each year (Fall and Spring terms).
-Maintain on campus office hours, preparing lesson plans, syllabi, including course objectives, lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams, and submission of final grades and attendance reports.
-Provide effective instruction at various locations (e.g., Brunswick, Camden) and in various modalities (face-to-face, online, hybrid, hyflex), as needed, and participate in regular professional development to support these efforts.
-Participate actively in departmental and campus-wide assessment activities.
-Engage in service to the institution and/or community, continuous professional development, and scholarship.
-Conduct academic advisement and career counseling.
-Maintain a commitment to student success and high impact practices.
-Participate in department activities including but not limited to recruit, retention, and outreach efforts.
-Perform related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
-Terminal degree in Mathematics, Data Science or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution at time of hire.
Required Experience
-A professional background (teaching or industry) in Data Science/Data Analytics with the ability to teach a variety of programming and data science courses including, but not limited to, Python, R and SQL.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
-One year of experience teaching collegiate mathematics or data science (data analytics).
-Online or hyflex teaching and course development.
