About the role
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic project manager to join our small Risk & Assurance team which leads the development and operation of key aspects of BGS corporate management systems, including risk management, internal audit programmes, external accreditations, business continuity planning, and providing performance information to senior management and the BGS Board.
About you
You will have either a degree (2:2 or above) in a relevant subject e.g. Business Management, or a qualification in Risk/Business Continuity Management, or substantial work experience in either a risk & assurance role or a project management role demonstrating the capability to apply your experience to Quality/Risk/Business Continuity Management.
This role will involve significant proactive engagement and communication with colleagues, staff and management throughout the organisation and beyond, requiring excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
There will be a requirement to travel occasionally to other BGS sites, NERC Head Office or other UKRI Institutes/Centres which may involve some occasional overnight stays.
Essential
- Degree (2:2 or above) in a relevant subject or a qualification in a relevant field, e.g. risk or business continuity management or substantial relevant professional experience in a risk & assurance role or project management role (S)
- Proven experience in a relevant role, demonstrating ability to apply your experience to quality management, risk management or business continuity management (S&I)
- Sound knowledge and understanding of corporate assurance and governance structures (S&I)
- Good IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, and ability to work with structured documents and data tools such as Sharepoint (S&I)
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of staff, management and collaborators (S&I)
- Excellent organisational skills with ability to work well both unsupervised and in a collaborative team environment (I)
- You will be committed to a diverse and inclusive approach to work in the geosciences (I)
Desirable
- Technical knowledge of one or more of quality management, risk management or business continuity management (S&I)
- Experience of implementation of ISO management standards (such as ISO 9001 or ISO 22301) (S&I)
- Experience of leading and conducting management system audits, perhaps with a certified lead auditor qualification or equivalent (S&I)
