Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £46,735 to £55,755 with potential progression once in post to £62,728
Role Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Director RSSD, (Head of Contracts Policy & Compliance) and working closely with the RSSD College Hub Leadership Teams, the Trusted Research Manager (TRM) will work with senior colleagues to: develop a consistent framework of operation for regulatory compliance and adherence with funder terms and conditions; support the training and development of RSSD colleagues and academic staff in matters relating to Trusted Research; and support the delivery of the University’s control environment with regards to research regulatory matters.
The TRM is a new post within RSSD that will have an opportunity to work at a senior level to support and drive the next stage of our Trusted Research strategy and policies,
Being approachable and open to staff within the RSSD and the wider University is a key element of the role. Key internal stakeholders include researchers, senior academic leaders, and RSSD colleagues, and the Trusted Research Manager will also have the opportunity to develop relationships with partners, funders and HEIs from across the sector.
Developing staff in an inclusive environment that supports all colleagues to thrive is key to the RSSD culture and that of the wider University, and the successful candidate will be supported to continually develop their own professional practice.

Person Specification
- Educated to Degree level (or equivalent qualifications) plus relevant practical experience – where no equivalent qualification is held substantial practical relevant experience and expertise in a series of progressively more demanding roles will be required.
- Experience of providing support to complex issues, with an ability to disseminate that expertise to others to ensure understanding and compliance at all levels of the University.
- Proven ability to write clearly for a variety of audiences, and to produce and analyse source material, information and data.
- Knowledge of the geopolitical issues impacting the UK and/or overseas research funding environment, including broader sector/commercial awareness.
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills, with proven experience of managing complex processes and engaging with peers and staff who are not direct reports.
- Excellent analytical skills with an ability to analyse complex qualitative and quantitative information and present conclusions clearly and concisely.
- Judgement and proven problem-solving skills that will help to identify and implement improvements and efficiencies across the service area and beyond.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
