About the Role
The Senior Lecturer in Social Work Practice will take the lead in work related to the integration of theory and practice across the courses under the social work discipline. In addition to contributing to quality research endeavours, the incumbent will provide leadership and contribute to the planning and delivery of topics, including the development of teaching materials, delivery of lectures/tutorials or other innovative teaching and learning strategies. The Senior Lecturer will also work to ensure continuous review and improvement of our courses, ensuring they continue to meet AASW standards.
The Senior Lecturer’s responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Undertaking a lead role in the planning, delivery and evaluation of lectures, tutorials, laboratory‐based material, curriculum development or other teaching strategies within Social Work, with a primary focus on ensuring the preparation of graduates for professional practice.
- Making a significant contribution to ethical, high-quality and innovative research (ideally with a focus on development of workforce capabilities) through activities such as scholarship, quality publication, external grant acquisition, mentoring and developing early career researchers and presentation that aligns with the College areas of research strength and focus.
- Undertaking a leadership role in relation to academic field education coordination for the Discipline, including but not limited to the administration of policies and procedures involving field education and related student case management.
- In a leadership capacity, assisting in College internal and external quality assurance and accreditation processes, by ensuring all placements meet Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards requirements for student learning outcomes.
- Building and maintaining strategic relationships and networks with a range of stakeholders including industry and professional associations and organisations, with an increasing national and/or international focus.
About You
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or equivalent qualification), eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers as well as five years’ post-qualifying practice experience. They should also demonstrate the following key position capabilities:
- Significant track record and demonstrated evidence of successful relevant and contemporary teaching experience at tertiary level, including responsibility for topic coordination, course coordination and curriculum design.
- Demonstrated experience in the area of curriculum reviews and internal and external accreditation activities.
- Demonstrated evidence of a strong research track record (for career stage) in a relevant area, including evidence of sustained high‐quality publications and attraction of external competitive grants.
- Demonstrated experience and successful track record in supervision of honours and higher degree students to successful completion.
