An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Climate Ambassador Officer to join the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. You will pro-actively support and respond to the operational and development activities of the Climate Ambassadors in the East of England, supporting the Executive Director and the Schools Climate Hub Co-ordinator at the Tyndall Centre, and the programme leads at Reading University, as well as intersecting with the place-based climate action work at the Tyndall Centre. You will be liaising with volunteer ambassadors in the East of England, teachers, educators, children, and climate ambassador regional hubs across England.
Key duties of the role include:
- Providing administrative support, including newsletter compilation and writing, minuting and attending online meetings as needed, coordinating events and travel, and occasional updates to website content and creation.
- Logging activities on the software platform STEM Learning.
- Analysing and presenting data including a nationwide ‘gap analysis’ of climate ambassador engagement.
- Actively contributing to the programme through engagement with internal and external stakeholders, participating in team meetings and contributing to the co-ordination of events.
- Maintaining an overview of the programme by proactively monitoring activity and managing deadlines.
- Contributing your own ideas and creativity for related projects and research within agreed strategy, and taking responsibility for project strands as directed by the Executive Director and/or Schools Climate Hub Co-ordinator.
Your experience will include project management and administration, education, public engagement, knowledge of sustainability topics, great communication skills, and a professional ‘can do’ attitude. This is a great opportunity for someone who seeks a part-time role in education and schools, public engagement, and project administration, that can be fitted around other commitments.
This part-time (0.4FTE) post is available from 1 May 2025 on a fixed term basis for six months. The role is based on campus but precise hours are flexible.
