The Physical Activity Research Center in the Department of Health and Human Development at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoc position, starting as early as June 2025.
The postdoc will work closely with the Director of PARC, Dr. Duck-Chul Lee and his research team for his NIH R01 project (R01HL171098), “Dose-Response to Resistance Exercise on Cardiovascular Health (DoReps)” to test the effects of different doses of resistance exercise on CVD risk factors by conducting a 1-year exercise trial in 240 adults with overweight/obesity. This clinical exercise trial will help fill important gaps in knowledge on effective minimum dose, most beneficial optimal dose, and safe maximum dose of resistance exercise for CVD prevention.
Job Responsibilities
· Supervising and training graduate-level research assistants and research associates
· Overseeing exercise intervention and outcome assessments
· Contributing to data analysis, reporting, and scientific writing
Salary/Benefits
· Minimum salary of $61,008/year following NIH salary guidelines for 1-4 years
· At least 1-2 supported research conference attendance per year (e.g., ACSM)
· Will learn how to design and conduct a large exercise clinical trial, successfully write a manuscript and a grant proposal, and perform large epidemiological cohort data analysis for publications
Requirements
· PhD degree in kinesiology, exercise science, epidemiology, or related field (or, expected to graduate in summer/fall 2025)
· Excellent teamwork and communication skills
· Experience in exercise intervention/training (preferred)
