About the Role
We are seeking an experienced academic specialising in Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) to join our Department of Aviation within the School of Engineering.
As the Senior Lecturer, you will conduct research and teaching in UAS and related fields while contributing to professional activities within the Aviation Department. In research, you will play a key role in advancing knowledge and enhancing the Department's research excellence and impact, including collaboration with external partners as needed. Your teaching responsibilities include delivering and supporting academic programs, contributing to curriculum development and innovation, and managing administrative tasks related to teaching.
In this role, you will also actively participate in the Department's management and administration, mentor and support students in academic matters, and supervise undergraduate, Master’s and PhD students. You will be expected to participate in activities that foster and build further on existing links with government, business, communities and professions in Australia and internationally.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Demonstrated track record in UAV design and operations, including experience with the development, integration, testing, and deployment of UAV for a range of applications.
- Relevant industry experience in the UAS sector, such as working with manufacturers, operators, or regulatory bodies, with a proven ability to apply technical expertise to real-world challenges in drone technology, operations, or systems management.
- Demonstrated expertise in the relevant research discipline, with ability to carry out research projects, both independently and within a broader team.
- Demonstrated ability, or potential, and/or involvement in research through collaborations with other universities, industry and/or government.
- Demonstrated ability, or potential, to attract and manage competitive research grants is preferred.
Qualifications
- PhD in flight vehicle design or a relevant discipline.
