About the Faculty and Discipline
The Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine is committed to shaping professionals distinguished by their superior scientific and clinical skills, as well as their ethics, compassion and humanity. Programs are offered in a range of scientific and health disciplines, including Medicine, Biomedical Science, Exercise and Sports Science, Health Sciences, Healthcare Innovations, Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. Each of these disciplines is underpinned by an active research program and the Faculty hosts a number of major research centres including the internationally renowned Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare. The Faculty has recently established the Bond University Health and Wellness Clinic, an interdisciplinary and holistic Allied Health Service to provide accessible and valuable care to the community.
Bond University’s Occupational Therapy program, fully accredited in Australia and the United States, is a two-year extended master’s qualification offering both clinical research and business-focused pathways. The Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine is seeking an experienced and innovative academic leader to contribute to the discipline in teaching and research and also take on the role of Head of Discipline – Occupational Therapy. This critical leadership position provides strategic, academic, and operational oversight of the Occupational Therapy discipline, including curriculum design, accreditation, research leadership, student success, and program quality assurance.
Reporting to the Executive Dean and working collaboratively with Associate Deans and key faculty staff, the Head of Discipline will lead the development, continuous improvement, and promotion of the program to ensure it meets both university and industry standards. The role also involves fostering strong external partnerships, supporting teaching excellence, contributing to research strategy and outputs, and ensuring the program’s alignment with accreditation and professional requirements.
The Head of Discipline role is a three-year appointment that may be renewed by mutual agreement.
About the person
We are seeking a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who brings a strong academic background in occupational therapy and a passion for advancing excellence in health education. The ideal candidate will be a registered Occupational Therapist with a proven track record in academic leadership, curriculum innovation, and stakeholder engagement.
Key attributes and experience include:
- A PhD in Occupational Therapy or a closely related discipline, and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (via AHPRA)
- Demonstrated academic leadership in curriculum design, accreditation alignment, quality assurance, and staff mentorship
- Proven ability to lead learning and teaching innovation, including assessment strategies and program improvement
- A comprehensive understanding of professional accreditation standards and experience managing successful accreditation processes
- A strong track record in occupational therapy research, with peer-reviewed publications and success in securing research funding
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with industry and placement providers to support student learning outcomes
- Experience in academic administration, including strategic planning, budgeting, resource management, and external engagement

Salary details
Level and salary will be negotiated and commensurate with skills and experience and be fully competitive in the Australian market. Salary packaging options are available for eligible employees.
