The Squire Law Library is seeking to appoint an individual to the role of 'Senior Library Assistant (Law) - Teaching and Learning Support' who is highly motivated, enthusiastic and customer-focused. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team and to play an important part in the operation of one of the largest libraries in the University of Cambridge and one of the leading academic law libraries in the UK. The Squire supports the teaching and research activities of Cambridge's Faculty of Law and aims to provide the highest standards of customer service to its readers.
The successful candidate will provide enquiry services from the Squire's enquiry desk and offer user education support for law undergraduate and taught postgraduate students. There is an emphasis on ensuring that reading list materials are readily available on the virtual learning environment (VLE), Moodle, and are easily discoverable. You will liaise with law course convenors and lecturing staff to ensure that materials are made available for students to access via the VLE. You will also monitor the availability of print and electronic materials used to support taught courses and update electronic reading lists in a timely manner. The Squire Law Library is one of the Humanities and Social Sciences Libraries and is a part of the wider network that is known as Cambridge University Libraries (CUL). Training in legal information provision will be provided but there is also the opportunity for professional development within CUL.
You should have excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills and will have had experience of working successfully as part of a team. You should also have proven experience of providing customer services. An ability to work under pressure, unsupervised, with an eye for detail and with a friendly and flexible approach are all qualities that are important for this role.
