About the role
Are you ready to help shape one of Oxford’s most exciting new destinations for culture, learning, and public engagement?
The Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities is a landmark new University building that brings together world-class teaching and research with a vibrant mix of public-facing venues—including a concert hall, theatre, exhibition space, library, cinema, café and more. As we prepare to open our doors on 29 September 2025, we’re seeking an experienced and proactive Events Coordinator to help establish and deliver our commercial events programme from the ground up.
DESCRIPTION
Sitting within our dynamic Commercial Team, you will be primarily responsible for administering and managing a wide range of events and activity bookings, from conferences and hospitality packages to commercial hires and public programmes. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role that spans:
- Responding to enquiries and converting leads into bookings
- Planning and coordinating logistics across multiple venues
- Supporting the delivery of events on-site with professionalism and flair
- Capturing customer and staff feedback and refining processes for continuous improvement
You’ll work closely with colleagues across academic and cultural teams to ensure seamless scheduling and exceptional service. With a strong customer focus and a knack for organisation, you’ll help build lasting relationships and drive repeat business.
About you
We’re looking for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and brings:
- Proven experience in event coordination, ideally across diverse venues or multi-use buildings
- A can-do attitude and the initiative to shape new systems and workflows
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Flexibility to balance office-based planning with on-the-ground delivery
- Willingness to engage in light manual handling and active venue work (training provided)
