The School of Natural Sciences seeks to recruit an enthusiastic technician with strong GIS knowledge and spatial data analysis skills, with additional experience of working in the field and conducting laboratory analysis, to help support teaching and research. You will be adaptable with a 'can do' approach. You will demonstrate a dedication to working within multidisciplinary teams and an enthusiasm for success, working flexibly as appropriate.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a scientific background in Geography or Environmental Sciences, with relevant experience of laboratory and field techniques used to assess the physical and chemical nature of environmental samples.
- Be adept at undertaking spatial analysis of large and complex datasets using GIS, specialist software e.g., ESRI, ArcGIS and extensions, QGIS, etc.
- Have a high level of skill using Microsoft Office Suite and associated Microsoft 365 Apps.
- Have experience in automation, programming languages and software development e.g., ArcGIS, ModelBuilder, Python, FME, Javascript, .NET, R.
- Have a professional and customer focused manner.
- Work flexibly across School buildings and academic areas.
- Have the potential to further develop your skills across the broad spectrum of attributes required for a technical role.
