About the role.
Full-time (37 hours per week), with a focus on the acquisition and management of our digital subscription resources.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and pro-active information professional who enjoys working collaboratively with others to join us in this key role.
In this role you will work as part of the team that acquires and maintains our large portfolio of information resources (over 800 subscriptions), enabling seamless discovery and authentication for both students and staff.
You will work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including publishers and suppliers, academics, and fellow Library and Learning Services colleagues, and will develop expertise in all areas of the resource lifecycle, including negotiation, licensing and usage analytics.
Our Discovery and Resourcing Librarians supervise the work of support colleagues and have shared oversight and responsibility for second-line support enquiries to the team. There is also the opportunity to deliver briefings and training to colleagues on a variety of topics, for example front line enquiry staff to minimise the number of second line referrals.
Communication and collaborative work are key. Examples include working with colleagues in the team on projects that enhance our services e.g. developing a comprehensive Electronic Resource Management (ERM) solution or working with the Research and Open Access team on the development and discovery of Open Access journal content.
About you
- Enjoy working as part of a team
- Establish good working relationships with library colleagues and external stakeholders
- Have excellent IT skills and aptitude
- Be self-motivated, reliably delivering work to agreed timeframes
- Take a flexible and adaptable approach to a changing library environment
You will have a professional qualification in a library/information related subject or be within 6 months of being awarded your PG Diploma. We are committed to fully supporting our staff in their continuing professional development.
