About Us
The Centre for Mathematical Sciences (CMS) is located to the west of the city and was built in the early 2000s. It includes the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP), the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics (DPMMS), the Betty and Gordon Moore Library (BGML) building, and the Isaac Newton Institute (INI).
About the Role
The Assistant Facilities Manager will be assisting and deputising for the Facilities Manager, providing a range of services across the CMS, including reception, custodial, and maintenance services. You will take a key role in Health and Safety, meeting room and conference/event booking, Compliance, and Environmental Management for the site. You will also liaise with the central Estates Management Division.
About You
You will assist in ensuring that the 9 buildings that comprise the Centre for Mathematical Sciences and associated services are fit for purpose and provide the correct level of support for the Faculty's teaching and research activity. You will also have good interpersonal skills and a willingness to engage with site users to develop and continually improve services. You will be educated to A-level standard or equivalent or have relevant recent experience, as well as a strong customer service ethos.
You will have:
- proven experience in Facilities/Building Management and supervising staff & building/maintenance contractors.
- good verbal and written communication skills.
- sound knowledge of building services and health & safety legislation, and practice.
- qualifications in Facilities Management, Health & Safety, and Environmental Management are all desirable. A willingness to be on call out of hours is required to fulfil this role successfully.

New staff are usually appointed at the lower end of the salary band. The salary scale has been shown to indicate future salary progression to the top of Grade 6.
