The role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of report writers in an agile environment, delivering self-service reporting solutions and supporting data analysts in strategic areas. We’re seeking an innovative, forward-thinking individual who brings fresh ideas and drives continuous improvement to shape the future of our organisation.
The Education Data and Insight Team provides analysis, insight, and reporting that are central to the University’s decision-making and regulatory responsibilities. We collaborate closely with subject matter experts and senior stakeholders to turn ideas into impactful solutions.
What will you be doing?
- Lead a team of report writers and analysts.You’ll provide them with excellent day-to-day management outside of their Scrum work and support them to develop the skills needed to do the job brilliantly, empowering their personal development.
- Understand how the student lifecycle at the University of Bristol works.You’ll learn about
- operational processes and the data they generate, and how to turn that data into knowledge and insight.
- Provide great looking, easy to use and accessible reporting products that everyone in the university can tap into.You and the team will collaborate with stakeholder to a transform raw data into impactful reports which help Education and Student Success and the wider University make decisions.
- Drive forward essential forecasting and reporting projectsincluding the work to transform our forecasting models so that they’re fit for the future and can accommodate the future challenges in the higher education sector.
You should apply if
- You’ve had experience using self-service reporting technologies like SSRS and Power BI.
- You’ve got proven experience of using SQL to construct complex queries to extract data from relational databases. It helps if you can use Power Query and Excel to wrangle and present data.
- You’ve experienced or are aware of how to work within the Scrum agile framework.
- You’re a confident communicator and able to present complex, technical information to non-technical audiences who want a quick, straightforward answer.
- You’re highly organised, able to ruthlessly prioritise and can manage a number of different tasks at the same time.
- You can take ideas and develop them into requirements and innovative solutions.
- You have experience of line management, leading projects or supporting team members and are committed to yours and others personal development.
Nice to have:
- You’ve proven experience of data modelling and/or forecasting.
- You have a good understanding of the issues facing UK higher education.
