Communications Lead, Local Health Global Profits research consortium in the Centre for 21st Century Public Health
The UK is experiencing a growing population health challenge – an ageing society, stalling life expectancy, increasing health inequality, and a growing number of people living with a major illness.
Meanwhile, approximately 40% of chronic disease deaths globally are directly linked to just four products manufactured by transnational corporations: tobacco, ultra-processed foods, alcohol and fossil fuels.
The Local Health Global Profits research consortium brings together researchers with local governments, public health practitioners, civil society organisations and local populations to understand the factors that impact on population health and the effective, scalable interventions to tackle them.
About the role
As Communications Lead, you will work with academics, researchers, professional colleagues, and policy practitioners to:
- Share research findings with key stakeholders to increase knowledge and understanding of the commercial determinants of health
- Establish LHGP and the Centre for 21stCentury Public Health as a trusted and authoritative source of information and expertise
- Support the adoption of research outputs and tools by public health policymakers and practitioners.
Based within the Centre for 21st Century Public Health(C21PH) at the University of Bath, you’ll be joining a friendly and dynamic team of multidisciplinary researchers and professional staff working at the cutting edge of public health research.
About you
As a skilled communications professional, you will have considerable experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating effective communications strategies and day-to-day activities.
You will be:
- Confident in building effective relationships with academic colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders
- Skilled at crafting clear, accurate, and compelling messages from complex academic and/or scientific research information
- Experienced in providing communications guidance and support to others to develop understanding of effective communications messaging, channels, and tactics.
Knowledge and understanding of the UK health landscape and experience of working with academic, research, and policy professionals would be an advantage.

This post is offered on a full-time basis (36.5 hours per week) for a fixed-term period until 31 March 2028.
The post will be located in the Centre for 21stCentury Public Health on the University campus, where hybrid working is in operation. You will be expected to work on campus a minimum of 2 days per week.
Travel in the UK to research meetings will be required.
