About this role
The role of a Student Support Adviser is to provide students with information and advice on a wide range of university matters including:
- Programme-related issues, options and module choices. · Academic regulations, procedures and rules.
- Transferring to other programmes within the University.
- What to do if unforeseen personal or medical issues affect their studies or assessments,
- Changing Direction. Conversations regarding withdrawing from the University or taking time out from study.
- Pregnancy support – we work with the student and the academic department to agree a plan to support their studies.
- Trans and non-binary student support
About you
Skills/experience
- You should have experience of providing advice and guidance in a complex organisation.
- You will have high level communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with students.
- You will be able to show evidence of building relationships with other services colleagues.
- You will have experience of dealing with challenging personal scenarios with students or customers.
- You will be able to deal calmly and sensitively with difficult or distressed people.
Where is this role based?
One post is based at our lively Frenchay campus, the other working at our City Campus in Bristol city centre.

Interviews are scheduled to take place at our Frenchay Campus around mid-August.
There are 2 roles available:
Role 1 is a full-time permanent post, working 37 hours per week primarily based at our Frenchay campus. The working pattern will be 10.00-18.00 Monday to Thursday, 10.00-17:30 on Fridays, with the option to work 09.00-16.30/17.00 during student vacation periods.
Role 2 is a full-time fixed term post until August 2026, working 37 hours per week working across Frenchay and City campus. The working pattern will be 08.30 or 09:00 – 16:30/17:00 all year round

UWE Bristol is a campus-based, this role is therefore campus based for at least 60 percent of your time, with the opportunity to work from home on the remaining days.
