The UK is experiencing a growing population health challenge – an ageing society, stalling life expectancy, increasing health inequality, and a growing number of people living with a major illness.
Meanwhile, approximately 40% of chronic disease deaths globally are directly linked to just four products manufactured by transnational corporations: tobacco, ultra-processed foods, alcohol, and fossil fuels.
TheCentre for 21stCentury Public Healthis a multi-disciplinary research Centre directed by Professor Gilmore and Professor Rutter and spans the Departments for Health, Social and Policy Sciences, Economics, Psychology, and Management.
C21PH is a global leader for public health research, working closely with civil society and policymakers to improve human health and the natural systems on which it depends at the local, national, and international levels.
We conduct policy-relevant research to identify cost-effective population-level interventions to address the structural drivers of ill health, inequity, and environmental degradation.??
About the role
As Operations Officer, you will work with academics, researchers, and professional colleagues to:
- Provide operational support for the set-up and development of the Centre for 21stCentury Public Health at the University of Bath.
- Develop strong working relationships and networks with appropriate academic and professional staff from across the University and beyond, including engaging with staff at senior levels and external stakeholders.
- Supporting several Centre andUniversity-level committees, which are responsible for deciding the strategy and overseeing the operations of the Centre.
- Responsible for coordinating and managing meetings, workshops, and events.
- Supporting the creation and delivery of communications for the Centre, including web content creation, newsletter distribution, social media assets, and the Centre Blog.
- Responsible for the collation and accurate recording of stakeholders and impact for the Centre.
- Responsible for supporting the financial processes for the Centre.
Based within theCentre for 21st Century Public Healthat the University of Bath, you’ll be joining a friendly and dynamic team of multidisciplinary researchers working at the cutting edge of public health research.
About you
You will have experience in:
- Proactive problem-solver with the ability to identify service needs and independently resolve complex, non-routine issues using sound judgement and creativity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to produce high-quality content and respond to varied enquiries professionally.
- Excellent organisational skills, with experience coordinating events, meetings, and project logistics to a high standard.
- Skilled in managing and maintaining stakeholder and impact data to support communications and reporting.
- Collaborative team player with a positive, professional approach to supporting colleagues and Centre operations.
Knowledge and understanding of the UK health landscape and experience of working with academic and research professionals would be an advantage.
