Are you passionate about wireless technology and eager to make a real impact at a world-leading institution? The University of Oxford is seeking two experienced Wireless Engineers to join our Managed Network Services team within IT Services.
Following a major wireless rollout across the University, we are expanding our centrally provided wireless network using HPE Juniper Mist technology and Ekahau for surveying. The project will grow our access point provision from 4,500 to over 10,000 across 300+ buildings. As part of the team, you'll be responsible for wireless network design, implementation, and troubleshooting – enhancing the digital experience for students, staff, and visitors across the University.
You’ll work on multiple technical projects, support the University-wide wireless infrastructure, and contribute to a high-performing team. You'll be a key point of contact for wireless issues, mentor junior team members, and collaborate closely with internal IT staff. Strong troubleshooting skills, prioritisation, and a collaborative approach are vital to success in this role.
About You
You’ll have:
- Strong Wi-Fi networking experience with platforms such as HPE Juniper Mist, Cisco, Aruba, or Aerohive.
- A deep understanding of 802.11 wireless standards in an enterprise environment.
- Experience using Ekahau or similar tools for wireless design and RF troubleshooting.
- A methodical, reliable, and adaptable approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders across the University.
- A proactive attitude and ability to lead and coordinate technical tasks.
