The new Oxford-Hyundai Motor Group Foresight Centre is a major research centre located within the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School. Funded through a generous research sponsorship from Hyundai Motor Group, the Centre is led by Oxford strategy faculty Rafael Ramirez (Director) and Trudi Lang. (Co-Director). Focusing on a discrete set of high-impact themes, the Centre contributes significant new research to the scholarly understanding of how foresight is conducted to inform business strategy, while also producing impactful outputs for practitioners.
Reporting to the Centre Manager, the postholder will have responsibility for events, public engagement, and the Community of Practice (made up of both academics and practitioners) for the Centre. This will involve working closely together with the whole research team. The role will entail a varied workload of tasks and as the Centre’s work evolves, the scope of the role is expected to develop.
Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the Directors and Centre Manger, take responsibility for planning, coordinating, and documenting, a calendar of research events, including but not limited to five Oxford Futures Forums and a number of (approx. 30) Scenarios Workshops as well as other relevant events and meetings.
- Prepare accurate briefing documents and event update reports as required.
- Manage allocated event budget and accurately update relevant trackers to ensure exceptional value and on-time delivery of events and activities.
- Design and maintain a communications process that will support the Centre in its selection of, and communication with event participants (research participants) in compliance with GDPR and/or the School’s policies on research data management.
- Manage a Community of Practice for the Centre which is an essential part of the Centre’s engaged scholarship methodology, and an important aspect of its impact agenda. This will mean working with the Directors and Centre Manager to devise different methods for identifying, assessing, capturing, and feeding leads and future opportunities for collaboration. The role provides an exciting opportunity for the postholder to go beyond successfully organising and delivering events, to helping shape the Centre’s outputs and engagement strategy ensuring effective outreach and collaborations.
- Manage the Centre Webpages. Training for this will be provided as relevant.
- Provide day to day administrative support to the Centre Manager and Centre Directors.
- Day to day processing of financial documents, such as purchase orders, supplier invoices, etc. to the agreed standard using Oracle Financials. Training for this will be provided.
- Support Centre staff to translate research findings into practitioner/public facing documents and communications.
