About the Role
We’re looking for a Construction Materials Technician to join our friendly and enthusiastic team in the School of Engineering at UWE Bristol.
This is a hands-on, practical role based in our brand-new Engineering building on Frenchay Campus. You’ll be working in labs and workshops, supporting students, researchers, and staff with materials testing and engineering projects. You'll play a key role in helping students learn by setting up equipment, demonstrating how things work, and making sure the spaces are safe and well run.
Your work will directly support future engineers and help bring their learning to life.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience working in technical or teaching environments
- Enjoys helping others learn and grow
- Is confident using lab or workshop equipment like cement mixers, hydraulic presses, and testing machines
- Has worked with materials like concrete, soil, or timber
- Understands the importance of safety and takes responsibility for it seriously
- Is comfortable using digital tools like Microsoft Office and Teams
- Is open to learning new software used in engineering, like Abaqus or FEA tools
Most of all, you should enjoy being part of a team, sharing knowledge, and supporting learners from all backgrounds and abilities.
You’ll be part of a team that values inclusion, curiosity, and practical learning. We aim to create a supportive workplace where everyone can thrive.
